The Best Flea Market Ever!

Delhi is known for its street market culture. From Janpath, Lajpat Nagar to Sarojini Nagar, you’ll find at least a mini street market at some hip place in Delhi and we Delhiiites love every bit of it. And why not? There is no other place where you will find ‘real ray ban’ sunglasses for just 500 bucks and ‘Gucci’ watches at just Rs 1000.

I am not much of a shopper as it makes me sleepy and tired, but when it comes to Sarojini, my eyes widen and sparkle like a kid looking at his favorite box of chocolates. Yes, I am lame like that! And what’s not there to die for in the most happening flea market in the city? They have everything under the sun, from clothes to curtains, you name it and they have it.

There is no shame in buying clothes for a minimal amount as people who shop from forever 21 also visit the place at least once in a while.

So, the other day my friend and I went for a little tour (and shopping) and ended up getting more stuff than we wrote in our lists. Now, you’ll find a lot of vendors selling clothes at just Rs 100 per piece, but beware, there are high chances of getting a t-shirt or anything else with holes in it (Been there!).

Also, there was an abundance of Denim this time and I was hopping like a kangaroo because I am truly madly and deeply in love with Denims. From denim shirts, shrugs, skirts and dungarees, denim was dominating the market.

For first time shoppers here are some tips:

BARGAIN: Yes! Bargaining is the rule of each and every flea market that has ever existed in this world. If a vendor is selling you a particular thing for 200 bucks, immediately, without giving it a second thought, lessen the price to half. (Or less if you think it isn’t worth it.)

Be Attentive: Do check the piece you just bought because there are high chances of it having holes and unwashable blemishes.

(Also, keep your bags and wallet close to you, for the obvious reasons…)

That’s pretty much it when it comes to shopping in Sarojini Nagar Market. Just look for the thing your eyes are set on and bargain with all your might.

Happy shopping!
