Fashion For Men #2: 10 Must-Haves in Your Wardrobe

Having trouble building a wardrobe that would last for a long time? In this post I advice the ‘other half of the society’ as to what is essential for your wardrobe so that you don’t have to spend money every season on clothes.

Many men wear whatever they see first thing in their closet and sometimes end up looking like a fool. We don’t want that, do we? Take a note of the fashion list for men that would suit any age, style and income.

  • Formal Suit

Every man has to have at least one well tailored suit in his wardrobe. Now you’d say that why waste money for a ‘once a year’ event? Well, even it is a once a year event you don’t want to feel out of place or look like a Penny Picher.  A dark gray or a navy colored single breasted suit looks good on almost every body type.

A white shirt is a must in men’s wardrobe. Buy a dressy white shirt as it is a classic and will never go out of style. Not only with formals, but when worn with jeans, creates a killer look.

You have a suit and a dress shirt, all you need to look like a gentleman is one magnificent tie. It is an essential as it complements the suit. Although it is necessary to have different types of ties, but you should have ‘that’ one tie which will make you look like a star. Now, that’s up to you to decide, which tie will look best with your suit.

For making you a complete gentleman, you gotta have the right shoes. Again, Oxfords are a classic and are best suited with formal suits.

Obviously, you need a black belt. The good thing about the color black is, it goes well with every color. So if your suit is a gray or navy or any other color, just wear a black belt. At least one black belt is very necessary.

  • Jeans

Now, a wardrobe is incomplete with a pair of jeans. Buy a plain dark wash jeans and pair it up with any type of shirts or tees. Blue color jeans can be paired up with almost every type of shoe.

  • One Sweater

You gotta have one sweater which you can wear to a business meeting, a party or just for home. Make sure to buy a sweater that makes you feel good when you are scratching your head about what to wear for the day.

  • A Polo Shirt

Polo’s make a brilliant summer shirt but you can also wear it to work, a meeting over golf or wherever you are going. One advice- No matter what, do not pop the collar or button the top button.

  • Khaki or Chino Pants

To be honest, I love chinos on guys. Other than that, they are comfortable and apt for summers. What’s cool about them is, you can wear either of them to work.

  • Navy Blue Blazer/ Sport Coat

A well tailored navy blue blazer or sport coat can be worn at work, meeting with friends or a formal party. It looks quite good with jeans too. It works well with a polo or a button down shirt.
